Our policies help us maintain a safe, healthy, focused, and distinctly Islamic school environment. We ask families to review these expectations with their children and partner with us in putting them into practice.
Students should be able to learn, move, and pray while maintaining Islamic modesty. The visual guide below gives families clear examples of Al-Khair's expectations for girls' hijab, boys' Islamic attire, haircuts, and coverage during ṣalāh.
Al-Khair encourages food and drink choices that support students' health, concentration, energy, and ability to learn. Our approach also reflects Islamic principles of choosing what is good and wholesome, showing gratitude to Allah, avoiding waste, and caring for the rights of the body.

These foods are not necessarily prohibited in every situation, but families should limit them in regular lunches and snacks:
The school may allow treats for Eid celebrations, approved class events, or other special school activities. All foods must still follow the school's allergy and nut-free requirements.
“O you who believe, eat from the good things We have provided for you and be grateful to Allah, if it is Him that you worship.”
Qur’an 2:172“Indeed, your body has a right over you.”
Ṣaḥīḥ al-BukhārīTo help protect students with serious food allergies, Al-Khair Islamic School maintains a nut-free school environment.
Families should not send foods containing peanuts or tree nuts to school. This includes:
Parents should check ingredient labels before sending lunches, snacks, treats, or food for school events.
Products labeled “may contain nuts,” “processed in a facility with nuts,” or similar precautionary statements should be avoided whenever possible.
